Hi. Hope someone can help. Recently found in the North West of England I immediately thought it was a bark textured bowl and at a bargain price (couple of small nibbles on the rim). However when I got it home I'm not as convinced. Colour looks right, it has a polished rim, measure 5 inches in diameter x 2 inches deep and weighs just over 880 gms. However the base is not smooth. It has a textured finish. I've been checking and have found other examples on good web sites (NOT ebay) that have exactly the same base. Can anyone help, and if not Whitefriars point me towards another maker. Thanks

That is absolutely genuine, it's just how they came from the mould. They have a cold finished rim so wouldn't have a polished pontil.
